The International Society of Hypnosis decided to implement a series of free workshops titled "Hypnotic Strategies for Acute Traumatization" to empower the therapists who work with people suffering from wars, especially the recent invasion of Ukraine.

The ISH Education and Training Committee has asked some well-known world-class therapists to present the workshops.

Thanks to Julie H. Linden, Ph.D., as the first volunteer presenter, ISH invites you to participate in her workshop, "The Trauma of War and Pathways of Healing," for free and equip yourself with applied therapeutic techniques.

Hypnotic Strategies for Acute Traumatization

The Trauma of War and Pathways of Healing

By Dr. Julie H. Linden

Date: 30th March 2022

Time: 6:00pm - 8:00pm CET

Julie H. Linden, clinical psychologist, is the past president of the International Society of Hypnosis (ISH).  IN 1995 she began work with a large group of teenage students from the war-torn Balkan nations, creating retreats, therapy groups, and educational programs for all who aided in their recovery in the US. That works continue into the present.

Long before integrative medicine was popular, she was integrating hypnosis principles and skills into a wide range of areas.  In medical settings, she was an early (1975) pioneer of pediatric hypnotic pain management and facilitating healing in both acute care, e.g., burn patients, medical procedures, emergency room presentations, and preparation for surgery, as well as chronic illness care, e.g., kidney dialysis; oncology; cystic fibrosis, to name a few. In clinical psychology, she has forged the path on the integration of play therapy, trauma, and hypnosis.

Julie works with clients of all ages and has contributed to the understanding of hypnotic work in a developmental framework. Her varied interests and writings range from children and adolescents; trauma, hypnotic sandtray; gender-sensitive hypnosis and feminist hypnotherapy; ego state therapy; hypnosis and creativity; hypnosis and the brain-gut connection; education and training in hypnosis; as well as hypnosis and leadership.

Passionate about hypnosis Julie enthusiastically travels the world, lecturing and training others on the enormous potential for healthy change when hypnosis is incorporated into one’s health care practice.

The Trauma of War and Pathways to Healing

People who are experiencing war are being traumatized. The nature of their responses is individualized but shares some common characteristics that guide our care for them. The responses also vary developmentally, with young children taking their cues from the adults around them. Establishing a safe climate and a paced therapeutic relationship is key for reducing the long-term effects of traumatic events. Caregivers are vulnerable in this process. Hypnotic skills that are useful for us and those in our care will be the focus of this webinar.
