ISH Monthly Masterclass - Mirroring Hands technique

Abstract:
Ernest Rossi began developing the Mirroring Hands technique and approach
from his work with Milton Erickson in the 1970s, which he continued with
Richard Hill, publishing together The Practitioner's Guide to Mirroring
Hands in 2018. This approach utilises the hands in a rapid way to create and
induction and then to enable the client to separate the problem from their
natural capacities to resolve and heal. The therapist is able to facilitate
the client's experience and also "get out of the client's way" when the
client is engaging their own resources. There is a language style that
maximises a client-responsive experience which is much more about the
therapist being responsive to the client than the traditional practice of
the expertise being in the therapist. Mirroring Hands is effective across a
wide range of presenting issues from behavioural changes to deep affective
traumas. Mirroring Hands is surprisingly effective when the both client and
therapist do not know clearly what the issue really is or when the client
does not wish to speak about their problem. The workshop will be largely
experiential, although there is an extensive set of foundational theory that
can be described in response to questions.
